About this site
Betting Apps Kenya is an information site for adults in Kenya about betting apps: where they come from, how to tie one to a licensed operator, and what Android, Google Play and the App Store require of them. It is written to be checked against its sources, not trusted on its name.
What this site does
Betting Apps Kenya answers one practical question: is the betting app on your phone, or the APK someone sent you, from an operator that the Gambling Regulatory Authority lists as licensed? Every guide starts from that question and from the mobile side of betting: store listings, APK files, Android warnings, permissions, the ID photo an app asks for, the M-Pesa prompt that appears on your screen.
The app check reproduces every line of the regulator's list of licensed gaming companies for the trading period 2025/26 that carries a published domain, so that you can compare a store listing with the regulator's own words. The guides explain the rule behind each step and name the section it comes from.
What this site is not
- Not the regulator. The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Kenya was established by section 6(1) of the Gambling Control Act, 2025 and is the successor of the Betting Control and Licensing Board under section 6(3). This site has no connection with it beyond reading what it publishes.
- Not an operator. Nothing here takes a bet, opens an account or moves money, and no page links to a site or app that does.
- Not a review site. There are no scores, no stars, no lists of the best apps and no testimonials. Operators appear in alphabetical order by trading name, spelt exactly as the regulator spells them.
- Not legal advice. Pages quote the Act, the 2026 Regulations and the app stores' policy pages with their section numbers so that you can read the source yourself. A decision about your own case belongs with a lawyer or with the Authority.
Who publishes it
The publishing entity, its contact channel and a named reviewer are not published yet. The site is new, launched on 28 October 2026, and has no track record to point to. Until those details are published the site carries the status DEMO in its footer, and it does not ask readers to trust it on reputation; it asks them to check the sources it names.
Texts are drafted by the editorial team with AI tools and checked automatically before publication, as the editorial policy describes.
Why there is no advertising and no operator link
Section 87(1) of the Gambling Control Act, 2025 prohibits promoting the advertisement of a gambling activity on an electronic medium or any other form of communication without the Authority's approval, and section 87(4) sets the penalty at a fine of up to twenty million shillings, imprisonment of up to twenty years, or both. The Gambling Control (Advertising) Regulations, 2026 (Legal Notice No. 114) define an advertisement in regulation 2 as any form of communication that promotes or is intended to promote participation in a gambling activity, including by electronic or digital media, and regulation 9 prohibits a call to action, testimonials and content that depicts gambling as a source of investment or income.
This site holds no approval from the Authority and does not want to be an advertisement. The simplest way to stay inside those rules is to carry none of the things they regulate: no banners, no affiliate links, no bonus codes, no ranked lists. Operator domains appear as plain text only because the regulator publishes them and a reader needs them to compare a listing.
Who it is for
Adults in Kenya aged eighteen and over. Gambling is for adults of the age of majority, which in Kenya is eighteen; the Gambling Control (Conduct of Gambling Operations) Regulations, 2026 (regulation 92) keep persons under eighteen out of gambling and gambling promotion, and section 72(3) of the Act requires an operator to see proof of age of majority before registering any player. Nothing on this site is written for or aimed at anyone younger. If gambling is doing you harm, the help page gives the regulator's toll-free line and the self-exclusion route.
How to report an error
If a licence line, a section number or a quotation on this site is wrong, the corrections page explains what to send and what happens next. A contact channel will be published together with the publisher details; until then, corrections are logged on that page as they are made.
